Citizenship
1. Application Fee for East Africans:
- Fee: KES 50,000.
- Ensure current pass or permit status Not Expired before submitting Citizenship application.
- Maintain current status throughout the application process.
2. Proof of Residence:
- Include documents like birth certificates, property ownership, utility bills, school certificates, etc.
3. Spouses, Widows, and Widowers of Kenyan Citizens:
- Married for at least SEVEN (7) years.
4. Requirements:
- Authorization Letter for KenyaLink Facilitators Limited.
- Cover letter for Citizenship via marriage.
- Application forms, marriage certificate, good conduct, etc.
- Fees: KES 50,000.
Citizenship by Lawful Residents:
Requirements:
- Authorization Letter for KenyaLink Facilitators Limited.
- Cover letter for Citizenship as a lawful resident.
- Reference letter, Form 9, Form N, etc.
- Certificate of good conduct.
- Personal bank statement.
- 2 Passport size Photos
Fees:
Issuance Fees: Ksh 1,000,000
Processing Fees: Ksh 20,000
Citizenship for Children:
Who Qualifies:
Child of a Kenyan citizen by registration
Section 13(3) of the Act caters for children who were born before the parent acquired Kenyan citizenship.
Section 13 (4) provides that a child or a person with disability who is a dependant of any biological parent or legal guardian who is a citizen of Kenya by registration shall upon an application made on their behalf in a prescribed manner be registered as a citizen of Kenya.
Adopted children
Section 14 of the Act provides that a child who is not a citizen, but is adopted by a citizen, is entitled to apply for registration as a citizen provided that the adopting parent can prove their Kenyan citizenship.

Copy of parent’s identity card
Copy of applicant’s passport

Copy of the Police Clearance Certificate from the country of origin for children 18 years and above who are not Kenyan citizens

Dual Citizenship:
Requirements for Declaration:

Declaration form, photos, certified copies of passports, etc.
Declare dual citizenship within 3 months of receiving Kenyan passport.
Declare dual citizenship within 3 months of receiving Kenyan passport.
Copy of the other country’s passport

- Copy of the other country’s Citizenship certificate
- Applicants must ensure that they are lawfully present in the country as they wait for application to be finalized
