CLASS D : WORK PERMIT
Requirements For New Applications:
1. Authorization:
- Original Authorization Letter for KenyaLink Facilitators Limited (if using their services).
2. Application Forms:
-
Forms 27 and Form 25 duly filled and signed.
- Form 27: Filled by the employer, each page signed and stamped with the Kenyan Addressed stamp of the company.
- Form 25: Applicant fills the initial section; employer fills Part 1, signs, and stamps.
3. Understudy Documents:
- Certified copies of their academic certificates and full contact details.
- Copy of ID
- Contract letter
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
4. Passport Documents:
- Copies of National Passport (biographical pages).
- Copy of Immigration Status if currently in Kenya.
- Two recent passport-size photographs (not older than 6 months).
5. Academic/Professional Certificates:
- Certified copies of Academic/Professional Certificates and Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Translate if not in English, certified by Embassies or Notary Public.
6. Employer Documentation:
- Original covering letter from the employer on the company’s letterhead.
- Addressed to THE DIRECTOR OF IMMIGRATION SERVICES, confirming hiring and stating the applicant’s designation.
- Specify strong reasons for hiring the applicant instead of a Kenyan.
- Signed and stamped with the Kenyan Addressed stamp of the company.
- For renewals, confirm extension of contract, update the date, sign, and stamp.
7. Job Contract and Description:
- Job contract and detailed Job Description.
- Contract signed and stamped with the Kenyan Addressed stamp of the company.
- For renewals, confirm the extension of the contract, update the date, sign, and stamp.
8. Company Registration:
- Copy of the registration certificate of the company OR certificate of incorporation.
- Tax Compliant Certificate
- KRA Certificate
- Registration Certificate
9. Clearance Letters:
- Original Clearance letter from PBORA for NGOs (Public Benefit Organisations Regulatory Authority).
- Original Clearance from other regulatory bodies if applicable (e.g., Ministry of Information, Education, Energy and Petroleum, Mines and Geology, Tourism, Dentist and Medical Practitioners Board).
10. Fees:
- Processing Fees: KES 20,000
- Issuance Fees: KES 500,000 per year
11. Security Bond:
- Submit the Security Bond and Security Bond receipt after payment
12. Processing and Endorsement:
- Once payments are submitted, the final work permit will be processed after a few days and endorsed in the applicant’s passport.

Note
- Renewal requirement of Tax Compliant Certificate for both employer and applicant
- It is an offence for a person to knowingly
- It is an offence for a person to knowingly mislead an Immigration Officer ( section 53 (1)(a) of Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act, 2011)
- Additional documents may be requested in addition to the listed.
- Notification of approval shall be rendered null and void (Regulation 56 of the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Regulations, 2012), if the requisite fee is not paid within 30 days from the date thereof.
- All citizens of the East Africa Community(Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi) are exempt from payment of the processing and permit fee.
- Where the holder of a work permit ceases to engage in the employment in respect of which the work permit was issued, the employer specified in the work permit shall, within fifteen days from the date of such cessation, report, in writing to the director that the holder has ceased to engage in such employment
