CLASS K : Ordinary Residents
Requirements For New Applications:
1. Authorization:
- Original Authorization Letter for KenyaLink Facilitators Limited (if using their services).
2. Immigration Status:
- Copy of Immigration Status if currently in Kenya.
3. Proof of Assured Income:
- Documentary proof of assured annual income (bank statements, proof of assets) from sources outside Kenya.
- Assured annual income must amount to USD 24,000 Per Annum.
- Bank statements must be from a local bank account (funds transferred into a local bank account).
4. Application Form:
- Duly filled and signed application Form 25.
- Applicant fills the "Personal Particulars" section and Part 3, then signs.
5. Cover Letter:
- Original cover letter from the applicant:
- Stating the desire to apply for retirement in Kenya.
- Confirming investments abroad to support the stay in Kenya.
- Undertaking NOT to accept paid employment of any kind.
- Addressed to THE DIRECTOR OF IMMIGRATION SERVICES, Nyayo House, Nairobi, KENYA.
- Provide Kenyan contact details (phone number, address, and email) on the letterhead.
- The letter must be signed.
6. Passport Documents:
- Copies of the National Passport.
7. Passport Photos:
- Two recent passport-size photographs (not older than 6 months).
8. Fees:
- Processing Fee: KES 10,000 (bankers cheque to PRINCIPAL SECRETARY MINISTRY OF INTERIOR AND COORDINATION OF NATIONAL GOVERNMENT).
- Application Fee: KES 200,000 for 2 years (option for 1 year at KES 100,000, bankers cheque to PRINCIPAL SECRETARY MINISTRY OF INTERIOR AND COORDINATION OF NATIONAL GOVERNMENT).
- Payment after permit approval with a grace period of a month.
9. Security Bond:
- KES 100,000 with a bank or insurance company (done after permit approval).
- Submit the Security Bond form to Immigration along with the application fee.
- International banks may be hesitant, consider using a local bank like KCB or Co-operative.
10. Processing and Endorsement:
- Once payments are submitted, the final permit will be processed after a few days and endorsed in the applicant’s passport.
